Advancing nutrient use efficiency with POLY4

Balanced nutrition. Efficient uptake. Reduced losses.

Balanced nutrition is the foundation of nutrient use efficiency.

Efficient nutrient use starts with balanced nutrition. When essential elements are available in the right amounts, plants can absorb, mobilise, and utilise nutrients more effectively—maximising yield while minimising losses.

What is nutrient use efficiency?

Nutrient use efficiency (NUE) is the relation of the amount of nutrient taken up by the plant to the amount of nutrient applied (nutrient uptake / nutrient applied).

Higher NUE means your crops are taking up more of the nutrients you apply—so less nutrients go to waste, and more go into growth. In other words, you're getting more yield per unit of nutrient. That’s better for your wallet and the environment. Fewer inputs, stronger results.

How POLY4 nutrients contribute to nutrient use efficiency?

Sulphur (S)
Essential for synthesising sulphur-containing amino acids and proteins. It plays a key role in nitrogen assimilation by activating enzymes involved in nitrate reduction and incorporation into organic compounds. Improved sulphur availability enhances nitrogen use efficiency and reduces nitrogen losses.

Potassium (K)
Regulates osmotic potential and maintains ionic balance, which drives water and nutrient movement across cell membranes. It activates multiple enzymes involved in photosynthesis, carbohydrate metabolism, and protein synthesis. Potassium also facilitates phloem transport, ensuring efficient translocation of assimilates to developing fruits, grains and roots.

Magnesium (Mg)
Magnesium is the central atom in the chlorophyll molecule, directly supporting photosynthetic function. It activates ATP-dependent enzymes and promotes phloem loading, enhancing nutrient translocation. Adequate magnesium improves root development and increases resilience to abiotic stress such as drought and temperature fluctuations.

Calcium (Ca)
A structural component of cell walls (calcium pectate) and membranes, helps build strong cell walls and keeps plant tissues stable and open to nutrient flow. It functions as a messenger in intracellular signalling, regulating enzymatic activity and nutrient mobility. Calcium also supports healthy growth and helps the plant manage its internal processes efficiently.
